Jon Walden has been with the University of Tennessee’s County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS) since 1993 and was appointed Executive Director on December 1, 2021, following service as Interim Executive Director from May 2020 to November 2021. In this role, he leads statewide efforts to support Tennessee’s 95 county governments through technical assistance, training, and information services, advancing CTAS’s mission of promoting better county government and helping counties better serve their citizens .

 

Prior to his current role, Walden served as Manager of Information Technology and Environmental Services from 2002 to 2020, where he played a key role in expanding CTAS’s service delivery and operational capabilities. He began his career as a Programmer Analyst at Columbia State Community College.

 

Walden holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Tennessee State University, a Master of Arts in Leadership and Public Service from Lipscomb University, and a Business Management certificate from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. He is also a graduate of the University of Tennessee Executive Leadership Institute.
