Our Environmental Resources page has a new look — with expanded resource links, featured mapping projects, and better organization by program area to help you find what you need faster.
We've updated our Environmental Resources webpage, and we think you're going to find it a lot more useful.
The page — available at ctas.tennessee.edu/reference/environmental — brings together links to state and federal agencies, data tools, mapping resources, and professional organizations in one place. We've organized everything into six program areas so you can go straight to what's relevant to your work: Solid Waste Management, Stormwater & Floodplain Management, Development & Environmental Review, GIS/Drone Mapping & Spatial Data, Environmental Compliance, and Professional Associations & Training.
One of the things we're most excited about is the new Featured Projects section, where you can explore some of the mapping and drone work we've been doing for Tennessee counties — including the Tennessee Solid Waste Facilities and Services Dashboard, drone mapping for the Putnam County Landfill and Kinser Park in Greene County, and a county asset inventory and facility mapping project for Greene County. These projects are a great example of how geospatial tools can support county decision-making, infrastructure management, and public communication.
We've also added a Most Requested Resources section up front, so the tools you reach for most — TDEC Data and Map Viewers, TNMap, FEMA Flood Maps, and the U.S. EPA — are easy to find right away.
And if you work with convenience center operators, check out the Best Practices video series produced by TDEC. We've linked all three parts on the page as a handy reference.
