Weakley County has recently funded a diverse range of programs, seeking to address prevention (both primary and tertiary), diversion from the criminal justice system into treatment, and recovery support.

Weakley County Prevention Coalition (WCPC)

Settlement funds have been strategically invested in the WCPC to support both prevention and recovery efforts. The coalition provides education, programming, and community outreach aimed at preventing substance misuse among youth and adults, while also connecting individuals struggling with addiction to critical recovery resources. In addition, WCPC actively advocates at the state level, ensuring rural communities like Weakley’s have a voice in addressing the opioid crisis.

Overdose Response Kits for Law Enforcement

Based on direct input from local law enforcement agencies, settlement funds have been allocated to equip officers with fully stocked overdose response kits. These tools are critical in saving lives during overdose emergencies. Weakley County agencies are also tracking usage data to ensure accountability and measure impact, reinforcing the commitment to data-driven decision-making. These kits are sure to be a great aid for law enforcement, as they are typically the first wave of response to arrive on a drug overdose-related call when every second matters.

Weakley County Drug Court Program (27th Judicial District - Weakley & Obion Counties)

Opioid settlement funds have also been allocated to support the Drug Court Program, which provides a structured path to recovery for individuals facing drug-related charges. Through accountability, treatment, and supervision, participants are given the opportunity to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives. The program has demonstrated strong outcomes, with graduates successfully reentering the workforce, strengthening their families, and avoiding further involvement in the court system. This initiative reflects a results-driven approach to rehabilitation that benefits both the individual and the broader community.
