From February 25 to 27, 2025, 25 chief deputies who are midway through their first term gathered in Franklin, Tennessee, for a mid-term training session. This executive-level training focused on critical areas such as jail issues, budgeting, auditing, internal controls, and liability mitigation.
The training was developed as a supplement to the New Sheriffs’ School, which is mandatory after each election cycle. During the three-day event, attendees had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow sheriffs and the CTAS public safety and legal teams. This collaboration allowed them to address challenges and share ideas based on their experiences during their first two years in office.
This training is a result of the New Sheriff Mid-Term training conducted this past October. The mid-term training was a valuable opportunity for new chief deputies to enhance their skills, network with peers, and gain practical knowledge to better serve their communities. Additionally, this training expands their network to better their knowledge and resources throughout Tennessee, fostering stronger connections that support effective law enforcement leadership. The success of this event highlights the importance of continuous professional development and collaboration in law enforcement leadership.
