Recently, CTAS has received several questions dealing with drug and alcohol testing programs. Please remember that the only employees who are required by law to be tested are those who have a commercial driver license, and the testing program for these employees must be undertaken in strict compliance with detailed federal regulations and established policy. If you are uncertain about any aspect of drug and alcohol testing, please talk with your CTAS county government consultant. This is a very serious matter and should not be taken lightly. County officials can be held personally liable if the program is not properly carried out.
