TCSA County Government Day Scheduled for Feb 28 – Mar 1

News Date

For the first time in nearly two years, Tennessee County Services Association (TCSA) members will convene in person for the annual County Government Day February 28 - March 1, 2022. The event will be held at the Downtown DoubleTree Hotel in Metro-Nashville Davidson County.

County Government Day presents an opportunity for county government officials—including highway officials, county mayors and commissioners--to network with their state legislators at the Capitol where they conduct their business. Two years ago, this event was disrupted by the tornado that came through downtown Nashville and left a path of damage across Wilson, Putnam, and other counties. At this time last year, the Cordell Hull building – home to legislative offices—was closed to the public during the pandemic and large group gatherings were prohibited.

Visitors and guests are currently allowed in public meetings at the state capitol and Cordell Hull Building, but these plans are always subject to change given the current public health climate. If these procedures change, TCSA will notify attendees immediately.

The schedule is being developed, but for now TCSA plans to return to the traditional format. Various board and committee meetings will take place throughout the day on Monday. Membership meetings for highway officials, mayors, and commissioners will take place that afternoon. Monday evening, officials will be able to attend the house and senate sessions of the general assembly in the state capitol. Officials are encouraged to then take their legislators out to dinner and visit with them that evening.

The next morning, TCSA will have a breakfast general session back at the hotel with speakers from the legislature and the administration. Following that session, county officials will be encouraged to make a short walk to the legislative complex to attend the various senate and house committee meetings that will be occurring in the Cordell Hull Building throughout the day on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

To register for the event, please contact TCSA at (615- 532-3767) or visit their website at www.tncounties.org. Contact the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Nashville to reserve a room under the allocated room block. When calling to book, please mention code TCS to ensure you get the conference rate. This room block option closes on Friday, January 28, 2022, so please be sure to reserve your room prior to this date. A full schedule of the day’s events including invited speakers will be available on the TCSA website once finalized.

NOTE: Individuals who have recently been exposed to COVID-19 or are personally experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms should not attend this event. If you have been exposed or feel sick and need to cancel your attendance, please contact Carol at TCSA as well as the DoubleTree hotel directly to let them know of your absence for the event.
