Celebrate the anniversary of County Technical Assistance Service with us in 2023!
Can you believe we have been in the business of promoting better county government for 50 years? Neither can we, but time flies when you’re having fun!
Our humble agency started as a request from county officials and the Tennessee County Services Association as a response to high need for technical support for county officials. We began operations in 1973 through T.C.A. § 49-9-402 with about 10 staff -- three of whom were field staff. Wow! We now have a little larger staff of 32 who bring a wide range of expertise including financial, legal, information technology, human resources, training, and law enforcement.
As an agency, we serve close to 2,500 county officials across the state, providing technical assistance in many areas of county government operations. We are here to assist county officials navigate these topics, prepare them to better serve their communities, and continue their professional development. It is through our history as trusted technical advisors and county government experts that we have enjoyed an immeasurable amount of accomplishment.
