Deputy Sheriffs

A deputy sheriff may be deemed a full-time police officer under the laws pertaining to peace officers. “Full-time police officer” means any person employed by any municipality or political subdivision of the state of Tennessee whose primary responsibility is to prevent and detect crime and to apprehend offenders, and whose primary source of income is derived from employment as a police officer.
