Reference Materials
The County Technical Assistance Service publishes numerous manuals, technical publications, and other written materials to assist county officials in the performance of their duties. These publications cover every facet of county government in Tennessee. The Tennessee County Government Handbook is a comprehensive general guide to county government operations in Tennessee. CTAS also publishes specialized manuals covering specific topics of interest to county officials, brochures describing the duties of each county official, and sample resolutions and other forms for use by counties. Interactive learning tools are also found here, providing the user with a quick overview of selected topics.
These materials are general in nature and are intended only as reference guides. While these materials are updated regularly, the law and regulations change rapidly and some information may be superseded by changes occurring after publication (please note the publication date which appears at the front of each publication). Counties should consult their CTAS county government consultant and/or their county attorney for definitive guidance.
