Legislative Information

Counties are creations of the state government. As such, the laws passed by the General Assembly are fundamental to the structure and operation of county governments. On this page, you will find Private Act Compilations, Indices of Acts, and other miscellaneous information related to legislation. Private Acts are acts passed by the state legislature that affect a particular county. CTAS compiles and maintains thorough compilations of all the private acts in effect for a particular county. Links to these compilations are found below, listed by county. Also, on an annual basis, CTAS publishes an Index of Acts that summarizes all new acts of the General Assembly, both public and private, that affect county governments. These publications are listed below by year. Within each Index, summaries are arranged by topic for general legislation and by county for private acts and public acts of local application.
